TrueTopo aggregates and displays geospatial information from many sources. Map layers, basemaps, coordinates, and labels are provided for planning and reference only. They are not a substitute for professional survey, legal title opinion, recorded documents, or official agency determinations.
Boundaries (including mining claims, ownership, easements, and administrative units) may be incomplete, outdated, or generalized. Always verify status with the appropriate government office (e.g., BLM, Alaska DNR, recorder) before taking action in the field or in legal proceedings.
Mining Claim Status & Staking Notice
TrueTopo provides read-only GIS layers of active and recently staked mining claims harvested from public feeds (including Alaska DNR Land Administration System and BLM MLRS records).
- No Claim Staking Execution: TrueTopo is NOT a claim-staking service and does not execute, file, or record legal land claims, APMA applications, or location notices on behalf of users.
- Planning & Drafting Tools Only: Boundary polygon drawing tools, area estimators, and field log features within TrueTopo are provided solely for personal reference, visualization, and spatial planning. Drawn shapes carry no legal weight or priority right.
- Verification Required: Staking claims on open public land requires compliance with state and federal laws. Users must independently verify active mineral rights with the Alaska DNR Division of Mining, Land and Water or the U.g. BLM MLRS prior to any physical staking or field activity.
Outdoor & maritime risk
Activities in Alaska and remote areas involve inherent hazards: terrain, weather, wildlife, water crossings, equipment failure, and limited rescue access. You assume all risks of outdoor activities. TrueTopo does not provide rescue, guide, or emergency services. Use appropriate judgment, carry proper gear, and follow local regulations.
Third-party imagery & basemaps
Satellite imagery and aerial photography may be outdated, cloud-obscured, or misaligned. Shaded relief and hillshade can distort perception of slope and hazard. Do not rely solely on screen imagery for safety-critical decisions.
No warranty or endorsement
